THE ARTISTS

This list is getting so large that I had to give it its own page. These are the persons and groups that did the tunes from 1959-63. Elvis had lost the title of the King and Frankie Avalon was on the way out. It was strange to note that Frankie had his monster hit in early spring of '59,Venus and was just about gone a year later with his last song being very forgettable. He would return in 3 years with Annette Funicello in the never-ending beach movies and a re-invented, glitzy both smoother Elvis would take back his crown for 9 years in 1968.

These and other artists made the Satellit Era perhaps the most dynamic 5 years in pop music in terms of breadth of product. Even Burl Ives and Perry Como made the rock charts.

this was really the second stage with a smoother sound than the '54-58 era and really began in late 1958. It was the subject of much discussion and took away the 'black leather jacket and switchblade" image as string ensambles and a smoother saxaphone sound came into their own. In fact, when ARP released the Solina IV string ensemble keyboard in the US during 1974 I said "it's a pity this was not out 15 years ago". This will be another dynamic page as I add to it and as I subtract from it. That last will happen as I add material from the artist/group aned move the about, lyrics, discography, fan to that section
